IR Sixmile Spray Skirt

A collaboration between Alpacka Raft and Immersion Research, the Sixmile is the first advanced bungee style spray skirt for packrafts. The new benchmark in performance and safety for the advancing class 3-4+ paddler, while being an ideal investment for those beginning their progression into class 2-3 whitewater.

The IR Sixmile Skirt features a kayak style neoprene tunnel, a hybrid TPU coated nylon deck with stretchy 1.5mm neoprene corners, a full perimeter neoprene casing, and high tension bungee matched to Alpacka's packable style cockpit and rim.

The high-tension bungee provides greater implosion resistance when running harder whitewater, while a specialized neoprene casing provides for an easy experience when putting the sprayskirt onto the rim of the packraft. 

To combat the flex of the packraft rim in whitewater, super sticky silicone grip strips placed on the underside of the casing keep the skirt securely in place.

Additional 1.5mm neoprene deck panels in a gray color keep your knees cooler on hot, sunny days, and provide stretch to accommodate a range of paddler sizes where one's knees may rise above the cockpit without sacrificing implosion resistance. 

IR’s grippy, corrugated, high-vis Eagle Talon grab handle holds its shape and prevents your hand from slipping off the end making it easy to find and pull in disorienting situations. While triple-reinforced seams are serged, topstitched and seam-taped for superior durability and dryness.

The Six Mile skirt comes in a range of tunnel sizes to accommodate various paddler body types.

Important Removal Note: Removing the skirt in a controlled exit is a bit different, so please watch our tutorial on wet exits vs. controlled exits when using the HD or IR Skirt. Removing by grabbing the neoprene corner from the side will save your coaming in the long run during controlled exits. Wet exits are easy either by grabbing the handle or just pushing away from the sides of the boat with your hands.

SIZING: 

To measure, use your normal pants waist size as a reference point. If you don't know your normal size, use a soft measuring tape to measure your waist. Take this number and subtract by 2” then boom, you have your recommended tunnel size.
