The Alpacka Ranger is the solo/ one person plus+ version of the Forager, with a slightly scaled down design it still has plenty of room for all of your extra gear, a child or four legged friend. Originally designed for hunters and fisherman the Ranger with its stable self bailing floor is the perfect packraft for adventures where maximum comfort and easy paddling with plenty of extra space are desired.

Want a bit more space and capacity than the Mule, but don’t need the two person size and weight of the Forager?  The Ranger is built just for you! Alpacka took the design of the Forager and scaled it down to make it more comfortable and easier to paddle for the solo paddler.  But it still has plenty of space for all of your gear for a multi-week river trip. It’s also a great boat for bringing kids up to age 10 before they want to do their own paddling.

While the self bailing floor can handle Class III whitewater, we recommend a more maneuverable model like the Gnarwhal for whitwater focused river trips.

The Ranger is also the perfect river based solo hunting and fishing packraft. At under 5.5kgs, its light enough to be backpacked into a remote river but offers plenty of carrying capacity for medium to large big game like caribou, deer, elk, and sheep or bringing along the dog on an upland or waterfowl hunt. The extra space also makes it great for carrying rods on river fishing trips.

CARGO FLY: Alpackas innovative Cargo Fly internal storage system comes standard on the Ranger and is the ultimate packraft gear storage solution. It features an airtight zipper installed in the stern of the boat to allow you to load your gear inside the tubes. The system provides drier and more secure gear storage and improved paddling performance due to a lower center of gravity.

Internal Dry Bags may be purchased separately and are designed to work with the Cargo Fly system. The bags clip in place along each side of the tubes with a side release buckle and allow for better organization and weight balance than placing the contents of your pack loose inside the Cargo Fly. The zippered drybags also act as additional balanced air chambers to make it easier to get to shore in the event of a puncture.
